Third Day Home

Another day with some small victories and some same old struggles.  Titan still is refusing food.  He seems interested and will sniff what we have.  He will even try and take the offered food, but it goes into his mouth and he just spits it back out.  So we have been force feeding him again to make sure he is still tolerating his meds well.

We still aren't able to get him to understand that we want to help and to stop fighting us every step of the way as we try and get him adjusted or to stand up.  The good news is at least once he is up, Titan was willing to stand on his 3 good legs on his own.  We kept the towel lightly under him just to make sure he didn't fall on the bad leg.  Towards the wee hours of the morning we just knew he had to go pee again and tried to get him outside.  He wasn't too happy about moving, but we managed to let him hobble outside with minor assistance to try and pee.  He looks down at the grass longingly but seems to chicken out and turn around to go back into the house to his bed. We haven't had a pee yet today which worries so I will even take another accident at this point.  While outside on the deck he was moving a bit on his own and standing again, but it took a lot of effort.  Still, I will take this small victory and hope that tomorrow only gets better.  Maybe finally a venture onto the lawn.  In the mean time we have even tried to bring patches of grass up onto the deck to see if that triggers something in him to go.  No luck yet.

He still has the sores on his elbows and now on his hind legs a bit too.  Our make-shift elbow pads don't stay on so well.  While at work tonight I was told to try lambskin.  It's works with human patients and bed sores so this might just do the trick.  We will look into this tomorrow as there is a Shopper's Home Health Care store just down the road from us.

Titan still is drinking water which is good, and has been very good about sleeping the day away.  He even tried to bark at a few people walking by the house which is a good sign he wants to be back to his old self.  So for now we will just keep giving Titan lots of sleep and positive encouragement.
